Dixon signed a three-album, £500,000 deal with the record company Polydor Records in 2005 as a solo artist. Her solo debut album, Fired Up, which consists of 15 tracks, was released on February 20, 2006. To record the album, she collaborated with numerous producers, including Paul Epworth, Johnny Douglas, Brian Higgins, Estelle Richard X, and Xenomania.

In July of same year, she released Superficial, her debut solo song. Later, she made the decision to make Lipstick the first single from her album. Midway through 2006, the song was published, and it peaked at number 14 on the UK Single Charts. After releasing her second song, Knockdown, Dixon quit the Polydor Records label. She went on to release The Alesha Show (2008), The Entertainer (2010), and Do It for Love as her subsequent albums (2015).

Throughout her career, Alesha Dixon appeared in movies and television series in addition to music.
